Tips to Calm Your Fussy Baby

Imagine you are a kid and you do not have the universal language to communicate with your fellow beings. Then, how would you communicate with others? That’s what happens with the babies, they do not have their universal language to speak out if they need something, and the option left to them is to cry (LOL).

Generally, babies communicate their needs like hunger, pain, fear, and sleep all through their cries. The interpretation of the reason can be quite tricky but not difficult. The cry of the baby sounds different from that caused by hunger or the need to sleep or pain. As the baby grows, they learn other ways to communicate with you and other people as well.

Let’s learn what it takes to soothe and comfort an upset baby as it may take all your skills of perception and awareness as:

·         Hunger

The baby's stomach is quite small, thus it cannot hold too much and empties very fast. Therefore, your baby needs frequent feeds many times a day. If your baby is crying, then there might be a possibility that the baby is not getting consistently feeding or drinking formula or breastfeed in small quantities and more often. You may try to feed your baby earlier than the estimated 2-3 hours to see if it keeps him calm or not.

·         Diaper change

You may need to take care of your baby diaper also, maybe the wet diaper makes them uncomfortable and that’s the reason your baby is crying.

·         Stomach problem

If your baby cries out so loud and lot, then stomach aches caused due to colic gas could be the reason especially if your baby cries a lot more just after your feed.

·         Needs to burp

Burping is not the quite mandatory reason for your baby to cry out. However, if your baby starts crying after being fed, then you may try to burp him well to relive them from the discomfort.

·         Feeling too hot or cold

A fussy baby might also be trying to indicate if he is feeling too hot or too cold. Therefore, as a parent, you must be careful in keeping your baby at comfortable room temperature.

·         Pain and discomfort

Sometimes, it may happen that your baby may be troubled by something, like hair tightly wrapped around the toe or finger or scratchy cloth tag, hence this can also be the reason for your fussy baby.

·         Stimulation

Babies generally find it difficult at times to process things that happen around them. So, they may need to be pacified, on the other hand, sometimes babies are outgoing, so they may cry and fuss to be more active.

·         Getting scared

Sometimes babies get scared by something in the usual environment, like bad dream or from any other thing that may scare them and becomes a reason for their crying or fussy behavior.

·         Teething

Babies cry and become cranky when they start getting teeth as each tooth pushes through the gums may cause them heavy pain & irritation.

·         Separation anxiety

Babies also experience separation anxiety. It is natural for the baby to be anxious about being separated from their parents, but with the patience and reassurance, they are sure to understand that their separation from their parents is temporary.

Conclusion

We have tried to cover all possible reasons for your baby’s fussy behavior to help you out, but not to worry and not to avoid their cries at any cost. You can make them more comfortable by giving them a message, entertain them, take them outside for relaxation, sing a lullaby, etc. Hence, all these activities may help them to stay calm and quiet and real in their day to day life.
